Gridphase in Low-Voltage Grids: Use-Cases
Load Imbalance Mitigation
Gridphase plays a vital role in mitigating load imbalance in low-voltage networks. Load imbalance arises from non-systematic ordering of mostly single-phase loads, leading to load and voltage asymmetry.
Load imbalance becomes concerning when voltages or currents near their limits. Our experience shows that load asymmetry typically peaks with maximum feeder loading, often repeating patterns as seen in Figure 4. By reconnecting a few consumers, the impact of load asymmetry can be significantly reduced.
Meter Replacements and New Meter Installations
New meter installations and replacements in low-voltage networks are other significant Gridphase use-cases. Gridphase's mobile application has a module that records the measured phase upon connection, instantly feeding this into a database. This real-time phase data can be used in Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) and data analytics applications, ensuring immediate phase identification and influencing phase selection, improving load balance.
